Failed sitcom lead Walton Goggins.

The greatest character actor currently working though, perhaps.

The only thing I've seen him in is this recent season of The White Lotus and based entirely in that... I don't get the appeal.

Like, he's fine. But in no universe does this small sample size show me "greatest actor alive" by any stretch.

He's certainly not bad. But on TWL he's like the fifth or sixth best actor on the show. And certainly not worthy of cult level adoration.

I really do think we, as a society, need to examine our obsession with squinty grumps.

He’s a great character actor that for me went form “forehead guy in justified” (I’d never watched justified) to Righteous Gemstones’s/Vice Principals’s Walton Goggins. It was a slow build of appreciation over the years

He's not that great in The White Lotus s3 (but then again, The White Lotus s3 is not that great overall). He's hysterically funny in The Righteous Gemstones, a better show in every way

There are plenty of not great shows overall that have transformative or even super good performances.

A lot of the Goggins appeal is his old school swagger. A throwback to the uber masculine actors of old.

That being said, he also has a feminine sensitivity to him that makes his appeal broader.
