That is definitely the case. Which means songs like Front Street are out.

If I had my druthers (and ultimately I will, but I'm enjoying the conversation for now), the above criterion is the determining factor, minus all the Trees songs, because that's a different beast. This means that any song without Lanegan on lead or co-lead vocals (as opposed to supporting vocals) that's not on a Lanegan solo album is out, even if he has a writing credit on it. This makes sense intuitively but it's good to spell it out. So: on the Gutter Twins releases, for example, God's Children, I Was in Love with You, The Body, Each to Each, Front Street, and everything off Adorata except the last 3 songs are out. On Isobel Campbell, examples of excluded songs would be Saturday's Gone off BOTBS and Shotgun Blues off SADD. On the Soulsavers stuff, excluded songs would include By My Side and the instrumentals. The Black Pudding instrumentals are out, but Blues For D is in, because it's on a Lanegan solo album.

By this criteria the following Queens Songs could be included: God/Radio, In the Fade, Hanging Tree, Song for the Dead, This Lullaby. (Am I missing any zeb?) Song for the Deaf, in its studio form, is an example of Lanegan on supporting vocals as opposed to co-lead. Sadly, Autopilot and Walking on the Sidewalks would be excluded, although I couuuuld make an exception given the way he owns those songs live. Twilight Singers songs that could be included are Number Nine and Hard Time Killing Floor. Mad Season songs included would be the 3 already noted above plus Long Gone Day.

Any song where he sings lead, including Queens and Trees, should be up for grabs in my opinion.

albeit a cover, Precious & Grace.

i think every song he sings lead on should be included from any project except Screaming Trees. all other bands he was a guest singer, Trees were a full band. though i'm not sure what we should do with the official solo bootlegs that include trees songs :\

So why should the Trees be excluded?

maybe it's just me but for some reason i've never associated the Trees with Lanegan as much as any other band he's been part of.

Thanks dude, when does this thing kick off? Haven't played this for a long while so I'll probably get kicked quickly.

As soon as we're done deciding what's in. The above Queens songs are in...Same with the Twilight Singers stuff. The only issue left is whether to include the Trees. To include all the Trees albums' seems like a bit much to me for a 64 song tourney, so how about any Trees song Lanegan has covered live as a solo artist is eligible. So off the the top of my head we've got Ivy, Change has Come, Twain Shall Meet, Dollar Bill, Shadow of the Season, Halo of Ashes, Sworn and Broken, Dying Days, Traveller, Gospel Plow... Basically, if you can point to a recording of Lanegan covering the song as a solo artist, it's in.

Draft order to follow shortly.

No worries, I realised I probably will be pretty busy the next couple of weeks so didn't want to hold everyone up if I couldn't get online.

Cool, thank you, I'm in. I think that's fair too (to name Trees songs he's covered live).

This draft order pleases me.

We've finalised the pool of songs?

Can we please either allow trees songs or not. This did he ever play it live at a solo show is too complicated.

Ok. Queens songs with studio lead vocals are in. Same with Twilight Singers songs. The last issue is Trees. I think my solution is rather elegant, and here's why: Lanegan himself has repeatedly sought to distance himself from the Trees. Just the other day he referred to the experience as "kindergarten" when explaining his irritation about being asked about them and his reluctance to tour extensively in America. And, I mean, Ben Shepherd hated playing Trees stuff when he toured with Lanegan. That guy is crazy, but he knows his music.

Nonetheless, a lot of the songs kick ass. And clearly the man himself has some affinity for some of the the tunes, otherwise he wouldn't keep covering them. So, given that this a Lanegan tourney, I will provide a full list below of Trees songs available that he has covered live himself.

Selectable Trees songs are:

Ivy, Change has Come, Where The Twain Shall Meet, Shadow of the Season, Dollar Bill, Halo of Ashes, Dying Days, Sworn and Broken, Traveller, Gospel Plow, Crawl Space, and Black Rose Way.

Zeb - your pick.
