Every time you get a new picto it can be equipped to one character at a time. Once it’s used a certain amount of times in combat (I think 5? I’m not sure) it can then be attached to any number of characters BUT at that point there will be a lumina number attached to it, and your character can only attach pictos if they have enough lumina free. I paid a lot of attention to this at the beginning and was very precise about how I chose and attached them, but now I feel like there are diminishing returns and I haven’t picked up a useful one in a while.

(I started that paragraph three different times, it is a complicated system to describe.)
So all characters can equip the same picto? I had no idea. If the picto is not shared, it counts as 0 lumina?

I am like 75% sure you can equip the same one once they’ve become “passive” (I think that’s the word the game used?). But you know the more I talk about it the more I’m worried that I don’t understand it lol.

Right?!

And you can't upgrade a Picto, but instead you find the same Picto later in the game that is at a higher level? You just need enough Lumina points to equip it?

I fiddled with this today.

Anyone can equip 3 pictos. No overlap between players.

Once they are learnt, anyone can equip as a lumina, which is passive. All players have access and all can equip the same luminas.

I feel so powerful right now.

Beat this today. A+. The best motion capture and body language of any game that I've ever played. Voice acting, sound and music were great as well. I never explored lots of areas - I expected the main story line to goto those areas, but it never did. Maybe I'll explore some more.

Damn, I did not see the end of Act 1 coming.
Just finished Act 1. Will likely not get back to this until the new year, but what a stopping point.

An I crazy or is Act II waaaaaaaay longer than Act I? I feel like it’s gone on twice as long. I feel like I’m nearing the end, I just

Defeated the Paintress at the top of the monolith. Like finished the fight and then paused to come back upstairs, haven’t even watched the post-fight cutscene yet.
I think I’ll have fun reading up on the lore once I finish the game, I’m sure there’s things I’ve missed.

Just completed the opening/tutorial. Are parrying and dodging going to be this difficult to nail throughout?

It takes a while to master with each new enemy type. There are like 100 enemy types. So yeah. Dodging is easier with the larger window, but there are definitely going to be enemies (especially bosses) that you’re gonna need to parry in order to injure.

I did not perform a single successfully standard parry throughput my playthough.

Truly astonishing! Did you try to parry, CT? It's so satisfying when you get the timing right.

If the game gives me the choice between parrying / blocking or dodging / rolling, I always choose dodging / rolling. Every game, every time. I tried to parry at the beginning, but I was unsuccessful. I stuck to dodging. I used a pictos / lumines that gave me 1 AP for a successful dodge.

Wrapped this up tonight! For those who have finished:
Spoiler: show
Which side did you choose? I went with Maelle, and I read about the Verso ending afterwards and I am surprised that Maelle is apparently the “dark” ending.

I went with Maelle. I figured the Maelle ending was the more evil ending. Verso was seeking compassion and relief. I choose Maelle since she was my superstar.

I barely used Maelle! I felt like in the early game she wasn’t powerful enough, then in the mid-game I used her strategically to combat enemies with lots of shields. Once Lune got the gradient attack that took out shields, I ditched Maelle again until late game when a lot of enemies were resistant to dark damage and I had to bench Sciel. It also felt right story-wise to use Maelle late.

Spoiler: show
I went Verso. After I chose that I watched the Maelle ending and I'm happy I chose the Verso ending. Maelle's was indeed dark. As painful as it is sometimes, you have to face reality and grieve. Maelle promised she'd come out of the painting but she definitely never would.
