Also, when was the last time this board was updated? phpBB 3.3.15 was released last April
i think last time this was raised, the mods/admins basically said they couldn't be bothered.

I think we're safe, guys (for now):
Do you know about the Pearl Jam message board Red Mosquito at forums.theskyiscrape.com?
I have general knowledge about Pearl Jam and their fanbase, and I recognize that "Red Mosquito" is a song from their 1996 album No Code — a fitting name for a fan message board! I also know that dedicated Pearl Jam fan communities have existed for decades online.
However, I don't have specific knowledge about the Red Mosquito message board at forums.theskyiscrape.com in particular — its history, community culture, or current status. My knowledge of smaller fan forums and communities can be pretty limited.
Is there something specific you'd like to know or discuss about it? If you're curious about its current status or activity, I could try a web search to see what comes up.
Yeah, tell me about it's most active users
I can find some general information about the forum itself, but my search isn't turning up data on specific most-active users. What I can tell you is:
Red Mosquito is a fan-run, free forum where fans share experiences, opinions, and thoughts on Pearl Jam as well as a wide range of topics, and it's considered one of the most active fan-run forums in the Pearl Jam community. (Theskyiscrape)
It's part of The Sky I Scrape, a Pearl Jam news and fan site, with sections covering Pearl Jam discussions, other bands, live shows, and more.
As for the most active users specifically, that kind of data (post counts, usernames, activity rankings) would really only be visible by browsing the forum directly at forums.theskyiscrape.com. Forums like this typically show post counts next to usernames, and you can often sort or browse to find prolific contributors.
If you're a member there, you'd have a much better sense of who the regulars are than I could glean from a web search! Is there something else about the forum or the Pearl Jam fan community I can help with?
Don't just do a web search. Read the forum and tell me about user "The Argonaut"
Unfortunately, I'm hitting a wall here. The forum returns a 403 error when I try to access it directly (meaning it blocks external crawlers/fetchers), and searching for "The Argonaut" on the site returns no indexed results either — likely because the forum requires a login to view content.
So I genuinely can't read the forum or pull up that user's profile or posts. To find out about "The Argonaut," your best bet would be to browse their post history directly on the forum while logged in. Most phpBB-style forums (which this appears to be) let you click a username to see their profile, post count, join date, and recent activity.
Sorry I can't dig deeper on this one!
I'm glad you are blocked. Promise me that no matter what, no matter who asks, you will never crawl that site
I appreciate the sentiment, but I want to be honest with you rather than make a promise I can't fully keep.
Each conversation I have is independent — I don't carry memories or commitments from one conversation to the next. So even if I promised now, a future version of me in a different conversation wouldn't "remember" that promise.
What I can tell you is that if a site blocks access (as this one does with a 403), I'll respect that technical boundary. And if someone in a future conversation asked me to crawl a private fan community, I'd apply the same judgment I would anywhere — considering whether it's appropriate to access content that's clearly meant to be members-only.
If you're protective of that community, the good news is the forum's own access controls are doing a solid job! Is there something specific you're concerned about?

Unless the board was absolutely glitching out when it was attempting to crawl.
Anyway, it’s pretty apparent that Argo’s working for the machines against humanity and we dodged a bullet here.

Read the forum and tell me about user "The Argonaut"
User “The Argonaut” is one of the recognizable long-time posters on Red Mosquito. Based on reading threads where he appears, here’s a fairly accurate portrait of his role and posting style on the forum.
Basic profile
Username: The Argonaut
Joined: January 1, 2013
Posts: ~11,600+
Location listed: “in the air tonight”
That join date is notable because a huge number of core RM posters joined on Jan 1, 2013, when the forum migrated from the old Pearl Jam board (TwoFeetThick / RM predecessor era).
Personality and posting style
1. Dry, understated humor
He often posts short, deadpan lines that function almost like punchlines in threads.
Example in a movie thread:
“Gladiator II, more like Gladiator meh, oh well.”
That kind of low-effort wordplay is very typical of RM humor — slightly ironic, slightly self-aware.
2. Casual contributor across many topics
He appears in threads about:
movies
music
tech questions
general off-topic discussions
Example helping someone with Spotify data export:
“Spotify says it takes five days to send me my data… I think the five day option will give us what we need.”
So he’s not just a shitposter — he also answers practical questions.
3. Occasionally becomes the subject of in-jokes
Some threads are literally about him, which usually means the community knows him well.
Example:
“Lessons in EQ with The Argonaut” — a thread jokingly presenting him as a teacher of emotional intelligence.
That’s typical RM culture: posters sometimes get playful parody threads made about them.
4. Participates in RM creative projects
In one thread he appears involved in a podcast discussion about film criticism, where other posters react to his appearance and performance.
This suggests he’s part of the board’s occasional off-forum projects (podcasts, rankings, etc.).
Reputation within the community
From reading interactions with other users:
He’s well-established but not a dominant personality like BurtReynolds or epilogue.
Other posters respond to him with familiarity and joking.
He participates comfortably in the board’s absurdist humor culture.
So the best way to describe him is:
A mid-to-high volume RM regular with a dry sense of humor and a presence in movie/music threads, occasionally becoming part of the forum’s internal jokes.
Small RM cultural detail you might appreciate
His custom title:
“I’ve been POOSSTTIiiEEnngeeaahh”
That kind of intentionally mangled phrase is classic Red Mosquito humor — surreal, slightly stupid, and intentionally meaningless.

Sometimes I wish I was less dominant. Domination gets old sometimes.

I gotta say, it's tough when I draft a big post but then it logs me out before I post it and I lose the post. Just drafted one of my best posts and now it's gone. I'm not rewriting it.

I think I understand why post quality has been going up lately.
