My personal PJ ranking: Last
My overall ranking: Below my 7" single of Rick Dees' Disco Duck, but above the copy of Mariah Carey's Music Box that I never returned to Columbia House on one of those "12 CDs for a Penny" deals.
RM ranking: Last

Don't see it beating the 90's stuff but I'm hoping for best of the 00's. High hopes. So 6. Maybe 5.

First, we're in a third decade of PJ music now. Second, no way modern Pearl Jam puts out another album as good as Binaural or Riot Act.

Fine I don't see it beating anything from the 20th Century but it may be my favorite from the 21st century. For some reason I thought Binaural came out in '99. It prob wont beat Binaural.

to do that all they have to do is release another record.

Probably tied with Backspacer in second to last position, light years from the rest.

I have a hypothesis about the quality of Pearl Jam's albums. It's a wave. A sine wave. It started strong, peaked with Vitalogy and No Code and then dropped a little bit with each album but always remained on the strong side. The long wait for Avocado caused the huge step in the wave and the quality is now on the negative side. Lightning Bolt, our album number 10, is the first entry in a row of albums that will rise in quality with each new album. Eddie planned this all along. At the end of their career (Probably album 13) he will surf the wave and jump of it into heaven. A human being that was given to fly.

Very nice. Seems to fit actually
He's been planning it since he surfed his first wave. Yep.
While the theory is sound, did a 2 year old annotate that sine wave?

I was lazy and did it with paint and a mouse. Problem with my beautiful mouse writing?

Album #11 - return to form. The jocks and the hipsters will be equally as interested.

Tuolumne wrote:One question (not sure if this has been discussed before): Why do we not include Lost Dogs in these things? It's a frickin double album of original studio material. It may technically be a "compilation" and some of the songs appear in some rare places, but it is an absolutely essential piece in understanding their creative output. And if considered, it would make it pretty far into people's reanking. I think TSIS and RM need to reassess this, as well as the general fan community. They have 10 albums prior to Lightning Bolt, not 9, as far as I'm concerned.
Good idea
Once Lightning Bolt is released and absorbed, we need a new consensus thread for Lost Dogs and LB.
Put it on the thread posting calendar for 12/1/13.

Oh, yes, you're right. It does look like it was written by the hand of a little rodent.

Really, I'm impressed. It's a special type of brain to turn numbers and opinions into a geometric pattern. And it does seem like LIghtning Bolt is going to follow the curve up.
Oh, and it does provide full explanation for why Backspacer is clearly the bottom of the PJ album barrel. No further explanation needed. The cause has been uncovered.

Probably 8th - above Backspacer and Avacado. Depending on how the rest of the songs go it could move to 7th ahead of Vs.
