Lots of people hate the raw onion? Shocked, to be honest. They're probably the only thing that makes a fucking hot dog edible.

So hot dogs are one of a few exceptions to my "no raw onions" rule.

When I make mashed potato I like to put a little raw onion in it. But it has to be diced nigh on sushi chef small. Just for that little extra kick.

They make me fart, and give my wife explosive diarrhoea, so I'm not going to have any useful contributions to this thread. A shame really, it's a great flavour enhancer.

When grilling, I'll wrap a scored onion in foil and set it on the side of the grill. When it has softened, I'll unwrap it and set it out for people to munch on while the rest of the food is grilling. I'd imagine many of you do this as well.

onion appetizers are always in attendance at my grilling soirees, as ubiquitous as the almond brandy aperitifs, the well dressed valets, and the setting golden eagle sun touching upon the hair of my innocent 7 year old niece, sweet as the grilled onions is she, read.

I'd love to discuss mushroom hor d'oeuvres but thread responsibility must be taken seriously.
