Delaying Obamacare for a year does nothing but allow the GOP to waste more time and money on symbolic votes to repeal it. I'm not sure the public can take another year of speculation and grandstanding over this law.

Getting Ted Cruz and Mike Lee off the TV is enough reason to go ahead with it now.

also worth pointing out - if you believe ANY of the actions by the GOP AREN'T politically motivated, I don't think I can carry on any further conversation, because it seems to me you're trying to reduce this down to the Democrats rubbing their collective hands together in secret glee over their potential gains politically, and the poor Republicans are just trying to do what's right- please correct my assumptions if otherwise.

The actions of the GOP are politically motivating, as are the Democrats' actions. No, I don't believe the GOP are trying to do what's right, but if the exchanges were not ready to be put into place, again what is the harm in putting it off a year?

so in a year, when you feel it'd be better to wait until, if the technical issues haven't been 'worked out' - do you advocate delaying for another year?
my point is that sometimes the only way to work out the issues is to meet them head on and deal with them as they come- I tend to think people are much better at thinking on our feet than sitting around going over things in discussion and debating points (minor and major) farting the time away while potential benefits of the plan are being denied to people who need it and want it...

I just don't have much patience with bureaucratic fussing around in the face of potential human gains. It's like working for a business (my business is this way, at least) - you come up with a plan, you knock it around for a limited amount of time, you identify what you can as problems, you address those problems, and then you release the fucking product- get it out there. most of the time, the real issues don't become evident until that release anyway - and the solutions that are created are ultimately more creative, more accommodating, and more practical than anything that could have been decided sitting around a meeting table discussing the finer points of whether a software program should include a UI that has a "Save" button instead of "Commit" button (an example I've witnessed in my job before).
It's the 80/20 rule - 80 percent of your return on investment is about as close as you can get to perfect before the efforts aren't worth it. the last 20% becomes more expensive and difficult to address, and therefore not worth the investment because the returns diminish proportionately.

that's my opinion about it. The GOP has tried to block and thwart everything this current administration has put forth. sometimes they've been successful, but it cost them in political capital even then - they continue to claim their actions are to help americans, because that's what the general population wants. except the general population continues to disagree with them, continues to show scorn for their actions, continues to lose interest in the political process, or the governmental process, and the GOP continues doing the same stupid line dance together - straight voting party-wide regardless of what their constituency wants them to do.
that's ALL politics, and they're basically assholes for giving such little credence to the wants of the people who voted them into office in the first place.
shutting down the government is just kicking the people around so they can blame it on the administration and win votes from the supposed idiots living here and voting for them - I don't know, I suppose that works in some ways, but I can't respect any political party that doesn't respect me as a voter.

Well, one of them will suggest we defer to the outcome we already agreed upon via legitimate democratic channels, and the other will say "fuck you I'm blowing it up if I don't get my way!"

I've enjoyed the last few post guys, nice work.

LOL at no military academy football games this weekend. Do the opposing teams get a win? Although I think Air Force and Army were supposed to play each other, so there's that.
