Sounds like PJ2013. At least he's honest that it's a collection of layabouts. Working seemed to be that crammed into an album form. There are some nice moments on WoaD but man, there's some waffle.

Don't you have high hopes for High Hopes? I'm tempted to get the Ltd Ed for the LondonDVD.

I'm keeping mine for that album really low and hoping to be surprised.

Yeah, I'm cautiously excited, LMS. Seems like kind of a peculiar release (as I said in the Springsteen thread, I would've much preferred another Tracks with some of the unreleased songs from other eras thrown in). For the most part I've been pretty happy with this last decade of Springsteen material, though, so I'm sure there'll be at least a few keepers.

Yeah, WoaD doesn't come close to the level of the E Street albums that preceded it, but it's got some solid tracks on it. Life Itself in particular is great. What Love Can Do is a cool song too.

Same here. I'm just praying for Lateralus part 2, and not a continuation of the direction of 10,000 Days.

What was wrong with 10,000 Days? Granted - Lateralus is an absolute work of art, but I quite liked 10,000 Days

It was going to be impossible to follow up Lateralus but 10,000 Days is still a damn fine journey of its own.

I now have three records finished, and the first one that will see the light of day is The Nels Cline Singers' followup to Initiate, called Macroscope. It's the first Singers record with mighty Trevor Dunn on bass, and it features guest appearances by Cyro Baptista, Yuka C. Honda, Zeena Parkins, and Josh Jones, and of course ever-stunning and stalwart Scott Amendola on drums. It will be released by Cryptogramophone/Mack Avenue in April, was produced by David Breskin and yours truly, and was mostly recorded by Jesse Nichols at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA, where we also mixed the thing. I hope you guys dig it!

The album is a 65min epic for classical guitar, cello and violin. It's been a long time coming and I thank you all for your patience and support. Myself, Raph and Evan worked extremely hard on this recording and are excited to have you hear it. An official release date will be announced in the new year.

Barn Owl's Jon Porras Unveils New Solo Album

While Jon Porras got back together with Barn Owl buddy Evan Caminiti to deliver this year's V, the San Francisco soundscaper will put the focus back on his solo career in 2014 via the release of a new album. His Light Divide arrives March 25 on Thrill Jockey.

A new Sleep album after so many years? It seems like their reunion is finally resulting in new material judging by a recent interview with bassist/vocalist Al Cisneros. Via phone, Cisneros recounts intense rehearsal schedules for both stoner three-piece Sleep and experimental drone band Om and confirms a solo EP dropping on Drag City, and also albums in process for Sleep and Om.

My/our/her/his new album is 68, 69, 70 and 71 minutes long. More details on why it may hop and skip different Time to be announced, following Current Future instructions from behind the back of the bars of the BaalStorm PickNick.

Its RELEASE DATE is 8 February 2014 at the Union Chapel. Its STREET DATE when it will be available in PickNick Emporii everywhere and nowhere is 3 March 2014 – two days before my birthday, which gives me time to juggle my Cats before CockCrow.
