The idea of Stip is bigger than all of us.
The line must be drawn here!stip wrote:Here I stand...

again, I would prefer to listen to Backspacer to those bands. But there are precious few albums out there that I really like listening to from start to finish. So for pretty much all those albums there will be some songs that are really great, but if I was going to listen to something from start to finish I'd choose backspacer (over half of PJ's output too).
I would not say that Backspacer is more influential or culturally significant than what those other guys did.
No but at least it's conceding that Backspacer isn't "better" .BurtReynolds wrote:I like how this explanation doesn't make him sound any less crazy.stip wrote:![]()

I get it though. I go through PJ phases where I'd rather throw on any PJ cd over any other band . Just the same I go through phases where I'd rather listen to any album that isn't PJ.BurtReynolds wrote:well I didnt really think he was that crazy.Thejambi wrote:No but at least it's conceding that Backspacer isn't "better" .BurtReynolds wrote:I like how this explanation doesn't make him sound any less crazy.stip wrote:![]()

To be fair, I would rather listen to Backspacer than anything by Bright Eyes, Ani DiFranco, the Dresden Dolls, or Counting Crows too.stip wrote:![]()

Love the drumming on the first album. 2nd and 3rd album have a couple of okay tracks. Very boring band live.bada wrote:The 2nd Counting Crows record is good.

Counting Crows write better pop songs than anything. Hangingaround and Accidentally in Love are fun.bada wrote:The 2nd Counting Crows record is good.
I always got the impression that Duritz wanted to be one of those Bob Dylan, "I'm not going to sing anything live the same way I sing it on the record"-type performers, but he just had no gift for it. He always just sounded like he was forgetting how his own songs went.LetMeSleep wrote:Love the drumming on the first album. 2nd and 3rd album have a couple of okay tracks. Agreed. Furthermore, I'm convinced that Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a little more funky.Kevin Davis wrote:I always got the impression that Duritz wanted to be (...) Bob Dylan
