I can understand why Bill Maher is off-putting to so many people. It's so easy to hate that guy. The worst is when (and this happens almost every show) he gets pissed at the audience for not laughing at a joke. But the show itself is really good, one of the few I never miss. His stand up on the other hand.... ugh.

I agree on both points. He used to be a pretty good standup too but that's been a while.

The also upload most of the show in pieces to YouTube. Which is good to know, b/c once every 2 or 3 shows he does a sight gag in New Rules, and you need to go watch it for the full effect.
Of course, none of them are so funny that they're worth that amount of effort.

Yup, haven't been a fan of his standup for quite some time but his show is usually always solid. I feel like he tries way too hard for shock value in his standup.
