The Wire, while having it's funny moments, was a very serious show.. and it was so self contained in its own universe. Once they brought Munch into that scene, Gus turned back into Meldrick, Mrs. McNulty turned back into Balled, Judge Phelan turned back into Gharty, etc. It was probably the only scene in the Wire that took me out of the show for a minute. It didn't help that in that scene It was Meldrick and I think the infinitely awesome Reg. E. Cathey walking into the bar.

Yeah, you very well might be right. Same general principal applies, in fact, that may make it more convoluted. I believe Colvin's #2 is the actual Jay Landsman- which is the real cop in the Homicide book on which Munch is based.

I'm halfway thru 6 and I can't disagree. This show has yet to lose my interest. Bayliss has slowly become the most interesting character on the show IMO.

the final two episodes of season 6 are the peak of the show.

Have you seen it? He's Gus in season 5. He also has directed 4 episodes i think, as well as a bunch of episodes of other top shows.

Also, Munch can now add 30 rock to shows he has appeared on as Munch. Pretty excited about that. Well, that and the fact people keep picking up on Homicide.

First noticed? You mean you didn't notice right away? He wasn't even in the background. He was in the foreground of the shot, the subject of focus, until it zoomed out and panned away towards the main characters in the bar.

I saw The Wire before Homicide so I didnt notice Munch until I re-watched it after seeing Homicide.
