Adam Driver, it's so weird to me, because he's been doing theater in NYC since I moved here. He's been on my radar for such a long time and I've loved his work for almost a decade now. It seems weird to me still that people are just discovering him.

But his star is on the rise. Forget whatever this is. Star Wars, Inside Llewyn Davis, While We're Young, Francis Ha, This is Where I Leave You and obviously GIRLS. The guy's outstanding. Even when the movies he's in are less than.

I'll probably see this just because he's in it.
While We're Young
Francis Ha
This Is Where I Leave You

Cool. While We're Young is in the queue, I'll report back later.

Which one should I watch first? Leaning towards While We're Young. Francis Ha and TIWILY both look dull and navel-gazy.
While We're Young is surprising. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did. And Driver steals the fuck out of it. He's fantastic.

Francis Ha is easily the best of the three, but I think you'll really dislike it. So, I would avoid that one.

This is Where I Leave You is fine. It's not great. Some nice performances and a couple of good laughs. Mostly, I just like the people involved. It's innocuous and vanilla. But it's enjoyable.
Edit: Weird, I replied with a quote and post, but only the quote posted. Anyway...

While We're Young is in the queue.

It's odd how much I loved The Squid and the Whale, and how much I hated Greenberg.

I'm a big fan of both.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I posted it a couple weeks ago when I saw the movie, but While We're Young may be my most hated movie of all time.

The trailer is definitely embarrassing, but I still have faith that this could be good. The cast is full of people I like, and I'm a big fan on Jeff Nichols.
Has anyone seen his first feature, Shotgun Stories? It's one of my favorite movies. Take Shelter and Mud are pretty great, too.

Shotgun Stories is pretty good. Take Shelter is a mess (only worth watching for Shannon's great performance) and Mud is junk. I have zero faith in Nichols at this point.

Im Just outta this and I really loved it. The guy playing the Dad is amazing and the kid was so great.

Wish it had even a slightly bigger budget cos without ruining it, if that was what really was gonna happen there'd be a much bigger reaction to it but still. Go see it. Brilliant performances and really cool the way it has you guessing and on tenterhooks for a lot of it.

Finally saw this over the weekend. Agreed about the budget - thought the film was great, was just a little underwhelmed by the ending.
