This looks great! For this summer, I already have an overnight trip planned for Hagues Peak in the Mummy Range, and a multi-nighter at S. Colony Lakes below the Crestones... I'd love to add this one to the list if you don't mind a tag-along.

My maiden voyage in couloir snow climbs was a great success today... A hiking buddy and I climbed the Dragon's Tail to the top of Flattop Mountain:

We took the middle line, and went left at the 'Y'. There was a sketchy section near the top, called the 'Rock Step' and a fall there would have definitely been fatal. I got stuck there, and was uncomfortable with the lack of good holds on the rock... but I was also too freaked out to try a different route. The pucker factor here was real, and I live to type about it to strangers. Here's a good video (not mine) that pretty much shows the whole route:

Don't know the size you are looking for, but I love my Osprey pack. I have the Talon 33, which was $125 at REI. They are known for their iron-clad guarantee, which states that they'll pretty much fix anything for any reason at any time.

Osprey is a fantastic bag. I support this.

Felt like splurging a little on my solo camping gear for the swag, and wanted to get something to allow for mid winter camping.

Got a swag mattress and sleeping bag on sale down from $300 to $175 for altogether.

The mattress is a self inflating type that is a king size single and fits perfectly in my king width swag. It's nice and thick (12cm or almost 5"), but rolls up nice and flat in the swag. Also includes the self inflating pillow you can see there.
Image

The sleeping bag is zero rated and is also king size. It's really warm, but I can also roll it up in the swag with a doona or thick blanket on top for sub zero temps.
Image

With these together, I'm ready for some high country camping. :nice:

Going camping with the older kids this weekend. It'll either be a complete fucking disaster or the best thing ever.

What is a swag?

Today, got a new Marmont 2P tent and a North Face 0* bag for my weekend trip into the Sangre De Cristos... The girls are test driving it in the backyard tonight :-)
