I've said before that I've never really felt much attachment to "Nothing as it Seems," although I've generally liked it. It's always seemed too bleak, maybe? However, I couldn't decide which of these two to vote for, so I gave both a listen, and was surprised to find that I actually like "NAIS" more than I remember. It's still pretty bleak, with this huge, empty feeling to it, but it's pulled off rather well.

Nothingman is a classic--a classic, I say!--and my favorite of all their "man" songs, for sure. But NAIS is just on another planet in a lot of ways: Mike's wailing, the bass really prominent in the mix (not surprising), and Ed actually using the natural level of his voice to create amazing vocal textures. If it gets down to where it's NAIS vs. Insignificance in a future round, I am going to lose my mind.

Nothing As It Seems is probably their best song not on Vitalogy. Top 5 song for sure.
