Why do you like "Daughter" so much? It sounds so bland to me.

I don't really know, it's just fantastic.

It's just a unique song in the band's catalogue; Stone's open-tuned guitar and Ed's weaving melody gives the song this great drone-like quality that they don't often explore. It's just a great sounding song, musically - really pleasing to listen to. I legitimately think it's one of the best things they've ever done.
(This makes me painfully aware that I'm not terribly good at articulating why I like music that really resonates with me, it's much easier to identify exactly what I dislike about music I don't care for.)

Corduroy is a, maybe even the, perfect slice of anxiety pop. Atmospheric builds, great uses of space balanced against moments of crunching claustrophobia. Tension that builds and builds and builds before finding release in a bridge that is quite possibly the finest moment of their entire career. Iconic lyrics scattered throughout, hooks that are irresistible without being grating or pandering, production that suits it perfectly, and a top notch performance from Ed. Unless for some weird reason Ben E. King's Stand By Me appears in this tournament, there's probably nothing in the world I'd vote for against Corduroy. One of only a handful of songs ever written that I have literally never gotten tired of and can listen to and enjoy in any mood that I'm in.

I should've saved that for a round where Corduroy needed to have a case made for it and not wasted it in a round where it's riding roughshod over its opponent.

I think the most important thing I can do to help corduroy in the finals is not say anything about it.

Yeah...
I like Daughter, but It gets tired quickly.
Corduroy on the other hand...what Lament said.

Daughter is probably my favorite Vedder vocal performance. There's just something about the energy and the melody that is just perfect. Plus, the recording just sounds so good.

Look, these are both great songs. It's just that Corduroy has an est at the end of its great.

Pretty much every song that made it to the top 16 is better than Alive.

While I love Corduroy, it is this sort of sentiment that makes it the most overrated song in the PJ catalog, in my estimation.
