I trust that you apply that criteria to every band you listen to.

Pretty much. Why shouldn't I?

Seems like it would limit the scope of music you could possibly listen to.

Not really. Bands can recycle or combine sounds in ways that are new and interesting. That's different. But why listen to Wolfmother when I can just listen Led Zeppelin, you know?

This is streaming on iTunes (and other places i'm sure), and I listened it to it last night. I might have to take back what I said about them not putting out another great album, because on first listen, it was really fucking good.

The 2 tracks that really stood out were "The Motherload" (Brann on vocals), and the closer "Diamond in the Witch House" (with the usual awesome Scott Kelly guest vocal).

I was pleasantly surprised too. I didn't hate The Hunter, but it didn't capture the same magic that their previous records did. This album sounds really good to me. Lots of layers to peel back too--this one is going to take a while to digest. That's a good thing!

A buddy of mine (he and I came on-board just after Leviathan landed & saw them play tiny clubs) and I drunkenly debated the merits of the end of that song last night. We agreed to disagree. I fucking love what they did there! The more I listen to this album, the more I think they've cut another classic.

I love what they did at the end of that song! Great album. Halloween, Diamond in the Witch House on repeat. Wish the vinyl weren't so crazy expensive.
