i dont think there are many better shows on tv, right now i would say:
Boardwalk Empire
Homeland
Game of Thrones (season ended)
Mad Men (season ended)
Sherlock (season ended)

I watched the 10 min summary FX has on Sunday mornings and got the gist of what happened but you definitely lose the impact in that format.
