I kind of enjoyed this, although forcing the early introduction to all the bad guys was a bit much.

I thought it was almost shocking how bad this was... stilted dialogue, shitty acting, choppy pacing, tacky-looking cinematography (most of the time), cheesy and overbearing score. I'm not even judging it as a Batman thing, just as a TV show. I don't know what I was expecting but this pilot is just the worst.

Maybe I should watch it again when I don't have a migraine, but I don't think I can suffer through those hamfisted attempts at introducing Baby Villains again.

I would watch this show if it featured baby villains as the lead antagonists.

This was horrible and I'm baffled by those that have given it positive feedback (what am I missing?).

I feel embarrassed that i didnt hate it. I think I just like that Ben McKenzie looks like a young Russell Crowe.

Don't feel badly, Skitch. You do what you do and never apologize.

There's no way the baby villains have a major part in this, right??

Is his parents hitman killer gonna end up being the joker??

Man, I hope not. That was fine for Burton, but it would feel silly to do it again.

Not in a million years was that guy the Joker.

Meh.
Pretty ham handed overall. Could get better if they realize the ties to the batman universe wont carry this. All I found it to be was an hour-plus of "Hey this is that villain. Pretty cool, right?".

The only way a "Gotham when Batman was a kid" concept done by a TV network could possibly be shocking would be if it wasn't just the worst thing ever.

Mmmmm.... gonna have to disagree, McBuddyPants. I think the concept is fantastic. I was talking about this very thing before I heard that Fox was actually going to make it. There are more than a few ways that this concept could not only work but excel.

i think its working so far. basically a L&O series but with elements people are very familiar with because of batman. logue is cast perfectly as bullock and mckenzie plays a young gordon well also. while the introduction of ivy, penguin and catwoman may seem overload they didnt dwell on any of them to take away from the pace

im a little iffy on the take they have of alfred but i am definitely going to give this a shot

I agree that the concept could work. I think the execution was just horrifically botched.

It could work on cable. I don't have much faith in the networks.
