Re: The Biking Thread
Took it out for the first time last night. Not a bad ride. We've got a lot of hills around here, so I'm really feeling it today. Struggling to find any decent tracks around though, and may have to settle for some old dirt farm roads.Sgt. Crackpot wrote:I got the old road bike out of the shed last night and cleaned it up a little. Put some new lights on it, and plan to clock up some K's as part of my cross training.
I miss the feeling of freedom and detachment from the other bullshit in life, when going for a long ride while listening to some good music. This should be great.

I wish I was better at Mtn Biking but im kind of a pussy going downhil. Ive taken a nasty spill into a pile of jagged rocks and cut myself up pretty good once. Figured that it wasn't for me. However, I feel as though I am missing out on a big chunk of Colorado Bro Culture by not mtn biking.

Nice, is this a 29" model? I've currently got a 26", but it feels too small as I'm 6ft. Is the large wheel size better for road/distance riding?red calzolaio wrote:a GT Karakoram 2.0.Sgt. it is a 29" model. i'm 6'1 and this bike is perfect. the larger wheels are great, feels like you are gliding down the road. i also love the adjustable suspension up front so when i hop on some of the trails at the park i just flip the suspension 'on'.Sgt. i really didn't want the disc brakes, if only because of the price bump. they are pretty awesome though.

Re: The Biking Thread
I took advantage of a chance to get rid of my car, so I've been using my bike to get around (and out of) the city over the last couple of weeks. It's a lot of fun. I've never driven extensively on the road before, so I'm still getting used to it.

Re: The Biking Thread
I took a nice tumble off my bike on the ride to work this morning. Haven't done that in a long time. Bruised shoulder, bruised hip, skinned knee, scraped elbow, wrist, and some chunks of skin missing at the base of two of my fingers and the middle of my thumb. Didn't damage my pretty face, though! Nothing really too bad.

Re: The Biking Thread
So, I keep getting flats on my back tire, four in the last year. Two of them I was able to pull debris out the tire. Two remain unexplained.
Do I need to get new tires? Will that make a difference? Am I just having bad luck? I mean, this last one was the first ride I took after repairing the last flat.

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Rode on a bike for the first time in over fifteen years yesterday, that YT clip did not induce any comfortable thoughts.
