I'd seen REM multiple times, and pearl jam put on better shows (though REM were still excellent) so I passed on seeing REM when Pearl Jam was playing in Camden the same day.

Turns out it was REM's last tour...

You know, I'm not sure. The shows were all pretty equally good. They were remarkably consistent (at least in my experience). My first show (Meadowlands in 95) was maybe my favorite. I saw them the day after Bush was releected in 04 when they opened with End of the World as We Know It, which was pretty great.

One thing I can say is that, especially compared to pearl jam fans, REM fans were a fairly lame and sober bunch, especially on the early 00 tours.

i regret not seeing r.e.m. in '99 on the up tour. they played midway stadium in st. paul, but i had just moved back up to college and didn't want to pull the drive there and back for just the show. i wish i had. i saw them in '95, '03, '04 (twice), and in '08, so i saw them plenty, but i still regret missing that one.

I've told this story before but the one I probably regret most was at the Showbox (in 2002?) when Pearl Jam played 2 nights in a row. I went the first night and miraculously scalped a guy's extra for $60. Special thanks to his friend who bailed.

I went back for night 2 with $90 in my pocket. Had an offer for $100 and probably could have gotten it for $90 but I was stubborn that I wouldn't pay more than $60 and I was in college at the time so it was a lot of money for me. That was the show they recorded for the DVD release. I probably spent that extra $30 on a fucking textbook or something so I really wish I had bitten the bullet and paid $90. So close yet so far...standing right outside the Showbox while PJ was playing inside.

My other big regret was flying home from ______ (can't remember where) in probably about 1997-98 and I had tickets to the Creed concert (it was either Key Arena or Tacoma Dome) and my flight was delayed so I missed the show. Actually flew right over the stadium during the show. I had left my ticket at home and asked my friends to stop by and pick it up on their way...try to sell it for me on their way in. They didn't. Jerks. I suppose that's karma for purchasing a Creed ticket but I maintain THEIR FIRST ALBUM WAS REALLY GOOD!!!

Garth. Fucking. Brooks.

I want it. I need it. I don't even care how much it costs. That asshole tours anywhere near me in the near future and I'm goddamn going.

Tom Waits, Tool, and James are high on the list of favorite artists I've never seen (I did see A Perfect Circle once). REM I got to see about 5 times, and Pearl Jam and Dan Bern are both well over 20. I saw Mark Lanegan on the first soulsaver's tour. I'd love a full show of him

Jack White plays Seattle next month on a Monday and Tuesday night... Considering it. Maybe.

Go. Just go. It's worth the money. I'm excited that he's launching a full-blown tour for the first time in nearly 20 years. Love him or loathe him, you have to respect a guy who gave up one of the most successful music careers in history to raise his kids.

Weird because those are the exact same tours I saw 'em on. (Didn't see '04 twice, but I wish I had!)

Add White Stripes to my list. I have faith they will tour again. I saw Jack White 2 years ago and it was killer and like 3/4 White Stripes stuff. Band he was with at the time was awesome.

I want it so bad, I can taste it. And you're right, mad props to the guy.
