2x4 sounds like an extreme variation of Severed Hand. A more major key and longer version of the opening and an unpleasant funky take on the verse.

2x4 almost sounds like an early PJ song there for a second.... like Alone . the part where the bassline gets funky... then there's some standard faux punky crap. but enough to keep a man sane.

and yes this production, or lack thereof, sounds SO much BETTER!!!!

The mix/mastering sounds better to my ears. Maybe I just haven't listened to the actual record in awhile. The guitars sound meaty organically....

the background vocals are weird on the chorus. Interesting that he seems to have the vocal melody before the lyrics. I'd have thought the lyrics would come first

I feel atmosphere when I listen to the drums on these demos. Clearly all that natural reverb was brickwalled out of the final mix. THis sounds like a band playing in the same room making shit happen.

That's what I want most out of their releases. But BO'b doesn't do that natural drum room sound.

It's the same solo, but I like the feel of Mike's solo at the end of severed hand a bit better here. A bit more garagey.
