I'm more surprised that anyone can genuinely believe there's anything of any value in The Hangover III.

Especially someone who recognizes the first two as trash.

Seriously though, the aesthetic of Batman & Robin is super impressive. It's so lush, colorful, and elaborate. Frankly, on visual terms, it FAR exceeds Nolan's films. Like, it's not even close. And I love the stupid, cartoonish, ridiculous humor and campy tone. I can't take the idea of Batman seriously, so I appreciate a movie that treats the concept with the appropriate absurdity. The whole movie is like a candy-coated, Technicolor funhouse. It takes balls to make a vision that extreme.

Visually is, perhaps, one of the laziest movies of all time. You want camp? see the Adam West series.
Its so bad that nearly killed a Batman franchise. I mean...batman.

The first two are unfunny, mean-spirited comedies that happen to be movies. The third is concerned with being a movie before being a comedy. As such, it is much more cinematic and satisfying, and the humor feels more natural and genuinely funny. It's the only one I actually laughed during. It's basically a crime movie that happens to involve the characters from The Hangover movies.

Also, more Ken Jeong screentime is always a plus.

I love 2012. It's Emmerich doing what he does best, which is exploring an Altman-esque tapestry of interwoven, character-based micro-narratives against a backdrop of awesome, mega-scale destruction with a subtle but distinct undercurrent of social/environmental commentary.

I'm not saying it does. I'm saying the art direction is good. The visual coherence and strength of vision goes way beyond just throwing money at the screen. And it's more than just art direction - its artistic vision. It's a direct manifestation of the tone and motivation of the film.

It doesn't really accomplish what it sets out to do at all, really. Its a muddy mix of 60s camp, Burton's leftovers, and 90s darkness and neon. The result is hideous. I wouldn't call it lazy, but it is an abortion.
