You've never seen something that should have been up your alley but wasn't? You've never once seen a movie that all the makings of something you would typically really enjoy (actors, director, plot device, atmosphere, aesthetic, etc) but it failed to work on you?

I think that's fucking weird.
Yes this has happened to me many times (more with music than movies however), but that would be 'movies you feel you should like', not 'movies you wish you would like'.

I wish I could fully embrace Showgirls. I think it's a pretty brilliant film with a lot of depth, but I just don't find it as entertaining as my favorite Verhoeven stuff.

I think the title of this thread works. It always blows when many of your friends enjoy something and you can't share the appreciatioon when the topic comes up. For me, this would be all Wes Anderson movies.

It could also mean "Movies you wish were good". Sometimes you look forward to something and it's just disappointing as fuck. Basically, the title is fine and Heathen should go fuck himself.

So the mathematical answer would be:

EVERY MOVIE YOU'VE WATCHED - MOVIES YOU LIKED - MOVIES YOU WATCHED IN HOPE THEY WOULD BE BAD

i prefer two and three to one.
I've got the extended edition boxed set and have watched it a few times - two and three are much better to me, but mainly because of the extra scenes included in the extended edition, and that they attempted to shoehorn more of Tolkien's own dialog into the script in those scenes. (although usually spoken by the wrong people, but whatever, at least it's in there)

I actually prefer the theatrical release of the first LOTR to the extended edition. In the "Keep it secret, keep it safe" --> "is it secret, is it safe?" part there's just too much going on in the extended edition. The quicker edits of the theatrical release work much better.

Exactly. I get excited FOR people that get excited about rewatching them every now and then. But I just can't muster the strength/energy/desire. And that makes me a little bit sad.

So I go watch The Silence of the Lambs or Mulholland Drive again, instead.
