I'm not nearly familiar enough with Prince to judge the comparison, but I know this doesn't sound like 1999.
I've been calling for the renaming of this thread since page 1!

there's some similarity to prince's vocal style, but d'angelo mainly sounds like an old school R&B guy, which was a big part of prince's style as well.
