These guys are pretty good...in a literate, down-trodden sort of way. They're like the banner 1st world, white, college-educated band. And I love them.

any know what ever happened to the video recording of the BAM (brooklyn) show when they kicked off the high violet tour? that show was amazing. they had the tall ginger from arcade fire, sufjan stevens, a string quartet, and some other musicians with them on stage.

i know there's some songs on youtube, but does anyknow of a complete recording or dvd plans?

Wow. How beautiful is About Today. Any more gems on the pre-Alligator time I need to know about?

If you can listen to one song on the self-titled record, make it 'Son.'

They streamed it live but there has been no news of an official DVD, it was an effective fundraiser so don't go looking for a DVD release. Now, it was officially taped and all audience captures have been quashed but take that for what you will.

I would think that a DVD is still a possibility, because...

1. The whole being for charity thing could still continue to apply if a portion of the DVD sales were also donated to BAM.
2. I can't imagine getting the Pennebaker/Hegedus team involved if they weren't planning for an eventual wide release.

The producing team was necessary for the YouTube stream. It was also a bit of an album release party, so it is possible sure but unlikely I'd say.

By producing team, do you mean the director(s)? That's who I was talking about when I said Pennebaker/Hegedus. And since D.A. Pennebaker is one of the most legendary music documentary filmmakers of all time, I guess I just find it pretty hard to believe that the band wouldn't have been thinking about a release at some point. Besides, they (the directors) already mentioned in 2010 that they wouldn't rule out a DVD. Anyway, I'll shut up about it now.
