I've never been very fond of Rival while Hitchhiker is always enjoyable for what it is.

I've always loved Hitchhiker, and it's probably one of my favorite songs from Lost Dogs that was completely unreleased. I don't understand the hate around it? Other than "it sucks!" what are some valid points against it? I don't mean that in a confrontational way bc I like it, I'm honestly curious why it's considered a terrible song by so many people.

I love the breakdown bridge. It just becomes completely unhinged, like you're in some weird freefall, and then *BOOM* the parachute opens and you finish the song

I voted for Rival because it's definitely the better song. But Hitchhiker is great. I really love it. And I don't think the lyrics are bad at all.

Agreed. Definitely not a fade that bugs me. Not sure how the song would end otherwise, would sound strange if it just stopped

Just to be clear, I like hitchhiker and don't mind the lyrics, but I can see how others wouldn't like it.

Either way, Rival is better.

Rival's the only PJ song I can think of off the top of my head that has a fade that I like.

Oh man not me. Like chud said, I don't mind the fade out, but I just think it happens too soon. The song needs another 15 to 20 seconds or so.

A fade like Rival is almost certainly because they either stopped soon after and liked the fade, or there's a trainwreck around the corner. I just want more Rival.
