It's ferocious. The lyrics, vocals, music, and brevity match the title and theme - it's form matching content. That's great art. It's a powerful, explosive song.

If Pete and Kevin want to hang out in the corner with me and listen to Daughter all day, I'd say that sounds pretty fucking fantastic. IN.

Two of my absolute favourite Pearl Jam songs, I don't know if I can choose.

Sure you can. Choose "Animal".

"Daughter" is a widely beloved song but its charms elude me. "Animal" for me.

My 4 favorite songs from this round are concentrated in only 2 matchups.
I really love Animal but Daughter is the better song.

Both phenomenal tracks which highlighted the strengths of Stone's riffage and each individual's playing. Dave A is a beast on VS, esp the 1-2-3 punch of Go-Animal-Daughter. His hat work on Daughter is so fluid. And Ed supplies a beautiful melody.
But from the first viewing of Animal at the VMAs nearly 22 years ago, Animal has rocked and moved me. There's no fat, no gristle. It's all bone and muscle and sinew, moving like a predator (poor choice or apt choice of word?) on the savannah.
It's dangerous and tense and it leaves me breathless, still.
