How do you rank it next to the Christmas album?
forgot about that. did not listen. not a huge fan of core or even purple tbh.

Interesting. I get the Core indifference because it's a real product of it's times and sounds pretty dated today. Purple is an amazing record though, it sounds like a band coming into it's own.
The Christmas album is beyond horrible.

So this album is pretty much forgettable.
I saw STP last night in Maryland with Chester. The band smokes, but the problem is the singer. Dying your hair bright red and moving around the stage like Weiland all night just makes you the singer of a really good cover band. During multiple songs I kept thinking how great it would be to hear Scott singing those songs. The DeLeos are the shit, but its a pale imitation.

I saw them live for the Purple tour. He was ok then. There was even a huge lava lamp, but it wasn't always blue.

The new one still have 2 or 3 great songs but it feels too generic and boring.

I googled Weiland just to see what he was up to. He made an album with a group called ART OF ANARCHY this year that never hit my radar. Pretty generic Nu Metal.

pretty sure he just got paid to sing on that one.
I actually saw Scott last week in Hermosa Beach. Was a surprisingly good show. Something still appears off when he talks (slow, slur, etc) but during the actual performances he held it together pretty damn well. The crowd was in to it
Also great to see Joey Castillo up so close. I didn't know he was still playing with Weiland

It's been a long year since you've been gone.
I miss this guy a lot. I'll be spinning tunes from his various projects all day.
Deep cut recommendation: his cover of the Smith's Reel Around the Fountain.

I remember they had a huge tour planned after Tiny Music dropped and Scott fell off the wagon or something and being bummed it was cancelled. I saw them live finally though in 2008 and they were awesome. STP is really slept on I think. I have heard from some they sucked live but when I saw them they were great. Meat Puppets opened. Great show.
They had the tour. Cheap Trick opened for them. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Top 3 show for me.

I didn't even know it existed until I read this. I'm going to have to look for it.

What. Well, something else to look for.

Man, didn't even know it'd been a year. Weird.
