The most disturbing part is the lack of real passion shown by both parties.

I live in Louisville, watched the races at a sports bar from about 4:30 through the big race. The whole place got electric and erupted in cheers when he won. Hard to understand how big a deal this is in this town.

American Pharoah is going to be paraded out on the track on Saturday night before the big Stephen Foster Handicap at around 9:00. He is going to continue to be stabled here at Churchill until he retires to stud at a Kentucky breeding farm at the end of this year.

The city is making him a de facto hometown hero, even throwing a party downtown complete with lit up bridges in the colors of his silks.

Fun fact - my parents have said I was conceived across the street from Churchill Downs the night of Affirmed winning the KY derby in 78, the last triple crown winner until this one. They had rented some sort of truck and sold ice cream and alcohol on a side street and made so much money (for them at the time) that they celebrated in the truck. Once I got over the fact that this happened (ewww), I have always felt a little connected to it.

I owned a thoroughbred several years back and of course the one time it won I wasn't there to get in the win picture. Just my luck.

This game still rocks though!

The track is surrounded by the ghetto for anyone that has been down there. My friend works in the ER and is dreading all the morons that are going to be drug to the hospital. All so rich fucks can wear hats?

Just made a quick text. Two shootings within a couple miles of the track just within the last hour according to my friend.
