The next one is supposed to be super beautifully shot if nothing else.

That post was either too smart or too dumb for me.

Easy, his movies are starting to run together for me. Maybe it's the aspect of using some of the same actors, the music, etc.

Do you still believe that he's a good filmmaker?

That's tough. I think his films are good but as they seem to run together for me I would hope he would do something different. This is all just personal preference though so yes I think he's a good filmmaker.

After Django I just started picking up the similarities in the music and actors, and that is what did me in.

Sam Jackson - 5 movies (6 if you count upcoming Hateful Eight)
Harvey Keitel - 3 movies (4 if you count uncredited Django)
Michael Parks - 4 movies
James Parks - 4 movies
Uma Thurman - 3 movies (I know Kill Bill was 2 movies but just proving the point of seeing the same actors over and over)
Michael Madsen - 3 movies
Michael Bacall - 3 movies
Christoph Waltz - 2 movies

etc.

I can't think of any instances of QT reusing music from one film to the next. Can you give me an example, Ruddo?

It is the style of music, that loud, sounds-like-its-from-the-sixties but really from a modern artist style.

Chick Habit by April March(which I love) is an example. That neo-noir, surf-guitar style that is always loud and in your face

I can't stand Tarantino, and more than anybody else, his persona colours each of his films for me. When I'm watching two characters have a long, smugly written conversation, I can't help but see his stupid, smug face.

That said, if he can rein it in, I'm a sucker for Westerns.

a lot of directors use the same actors in their films...most of those weren't even the main characters (or at least the only "main" character)

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of Tarantino these days, but citing him working with the same actors in multiple films seems like an odd rationale. Lots of directors do that. But it seems like you're more getting at the idea of his style and movies seeming repetitive now? Sort of like Wes Anderson? That I could understand. I do find the pulpy, over-the-top stuff he's doing now to be a bit tiresome, even though I haven't actively disliked anything he's made. It's just fluff.

Again, this is all just a personal problem. His movies are great, and I realize what you are saying about the actors lenny, but for me that and the music just make them run together.

The same actors thing is just part of what makes them all run together for me. I don't think you guys are getting what I'm saying, but I'm probably not explaining it right. I DON'T KNOW.

No, I get what you mean. The aesthetic in Kill Bill, Inglourious, and Django is very similar. They do feel samey, I think. Especially the latter two.
