I like both, but I think LB has stronger material. Even the song I really dislike on there (LTRP) has some redeeming qualities to it.
There are spots on Backspacer where is it sounds like they are trying too hard, LB feels more natural.

The opening and main chord riff of that song are pretty bad ass.
