Are they a particularly popular band?
I guess I don't really know.

The last time I saw them, it was a bigger venue and I remember thinking that venue was small. They are playing the venue a lot of metal bands play (I saw Behemoth there last year). They seem to draw an interesting mixture of metal kids, "hipsters" and frat bros, so I just figured their audience would be a lot larger.

I've seen them in big venues, but that was in Austin, so it doesn't really count.

I'm going to see them Oct. 29 in Portland, I have no idea how big the venue is. When I saw them on the Warp Riders tour, the place held around 900 I think (Regency Ballroom in SF).

Show was kind of a nightmare. Too many frat bros looking to hurt people and bad acoustics, which was weird because Behemoth sounded great when I saw them last year at the same venue. Also, there was a hellacious fight going on right next to our car when the show let out, so the wife and I walked to a coffee shop. We noticed a homeless man on the way in, so we bought two extra scones and a coffee for him. On the way out we tried handing them to him, but he knocked it all out of my wife's hands and screamed at her.
A lovely evening all around. #lifeinPHX

Saw Opeth and The Sword last night. Opeth was great, but The Sword was BORING. I didn't hate High Country as much as a lot of people did, but they did 9 songs and 6 of them were from High Country. Those songs didn't translate very well live. Even two of the songs they did that weren't from High Country (Tres Brujas & Maiden, Mother and Crone) weren't very good. Almost like they were performed to sound like they were from High Country. They did one from Apocryphon which I don't remember , but they didn't do anything from Age of Winters. I saw them headline on the Warp Riders tour in 2010 and they were amazing - I don't know what happened.

Thought about seeing them again last month but wasn't crazy about hearing High Country. Sounds like I made the right decision.
