Unless you think you'll get as much enjoyment from seeing Di Caprio get fucked up properly by a bear as I did

His performance is even more eye rolling/nauseating than usual. 'If I growl a lot and make it look like I have bad constipation I might get an Oscar.' This isn't acting. Di Caprio is a poser. Not an actor. He's exposed here.
The film itself never manages to pull off the mood it's trying to portray. There's no investment in any of the other characters nor development and the plodding endless dragging from shot to the next shot quickly becomes mind numbing. The soundtrack is distracting it's so bad. And finally, we get an insipid and disappointing payoff. But by then you just don't care.
This is like Into the Wild MKII too. Lot of the same shots when he's in the landscape and they look too modern as shots to fit in the film. This film is turgid.

Go back and watch Ravenous instead.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. Loved the book, with the exception of the underwhelming finale. Can somebody spoiler code the film's ending for me? Curious if it's the same.

The finale is the showdown between Glass and Fitzgerald. They had a brutal fight in the snow, both men get hurt but ultimately Glass stabs Fitz a few times. He then spots the Indians approaching on the other side of the river, and so he pushes a still-alive Fitz across the water and the Indians finish him off.

Glass waits there nervously as the Indians approach, probably thinking they're going to kill him too. But they just nod and ride past him, and he notices that the old man is now with his daughter who he spent the whole film searching for, and who Glass saved earlier while she was being raped.

Glass then starts to make his way back to the base/compound/whatever its called, but he's really injured. He sees another vision of his wife, encouraging him to keep going. She walks away, the camera stays on Glass and he starts staring right into the camera. And then it end.

Personally, I LOVED the film.

I was enthralled throughout the whole thing. The final fight is brilliant!

Hmm, well I think Innaritu definitely believed it. He's what made that movie what it is. I doubt that script would have amounted to much in the hands of someone else.
