The first twenty minutes are incredibly well done. The rest is Leo crawling and grunting through beautiful scenery. I enjoyed it.

Re: Movie: The Revenant
Ignore the Revenant. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
His performance is even more eye rolling/nauseating than usual. 'If I growl a lot and make it look like I have bad constipation I might get an Oscar.' This isn't acting. Di Caprio is a poser. Not an actor. He's exposed here.
The film itself never manages to pull off the mood it's trying to portray. There's no investment in any of the other characters nor development and the plodding endless dragging from shot to the next shot quickly becomes mind numbing. The soundtrack is distracting it's so bad. And finally, we get an insipid and disappointing payoff. But by then you just don't care.
This is like Into the Wild MKII too. Lot of the same shots when he's in the landscape and they look too modern as shots to fit in the film. This film is turgid.
Go back and watch Ravenous instead.

But not much is known about the real guy's personal life so they admittedly made up a ton of shit.

Loved the book, with the exception of the underwhelming finale. Can somebody spoiler code the film's ending for me? Curious if it's the same.

How did you feel about Birdman? I'm not a fan of his work before that, but I really dug that one.VinylGuy wrote:Im not a fan of the director, but the trailer was awesome.

Birdman was ok, but im not a fan of the people who worked in the scrip. Those guys are from Argentina, and i know them and im sure the whole movie, looked, message, everything was fake. Its hard for me to watch it because im sure they dont believe in what they are saying...they dont even care.LoathedVermin72 wrote:How did you feel about Birdman? Hmm, well I think Innaritu definitely believed it. He's what made that movie what it is. I doubt that script would have amounted to much in the hands of someone else.VinylGuy wrote:Birdman was ok, but im not a fan of the people who worked in the scrip.
