New single is out, and its a great one. The band premiered it at Jools Holland.

I have a fucked up Dinosaur Jr. story. I was visting a friend in California in 1998. We had just finished recording some music, and I noticed a Dinosaur Jr cassette, so I put it on and we listened, and had a conversation about how we have never seen what the band actually looks like.

So we decide to get something to eat and we go upstairs and turn on the TV, and Jenny Jones (a cheesy Jerry Springer-ish talk show) is on, and she says, "Next we have a musical guest, Dinosaur Jr.!" and my friend and I look at each other astonished, like "What the fuck?".

It was definitely a plate of shrimp moment. It was strange enough because she never has musical guests, but an audience full of black people watching Dinosaur Jr. completely unimpressed was fucking surreal.

Many years later, I was reading Wikipedia and I learned that it was their final TV appearance...they broke up not long after that. What a strange way to go out, and what a fucked up thing to witness unexpectedly!
