I was just thinking about this. It's what possibly sets him apart from most male rock vocalists. It's much more common to stick with a well defined style.

Dude is versatile as fuck, to be sure. Thank God he developed his style over time.

But it's that over-the-top, uber-earnest style that initially set him apart and got most people to pay attention.

That Pearl Jam are a joke and the only reason anyone ever liked Nirvana -- or rather pretended to like Nirvana -- was because they knew it made them look cool?

Well, sure. I mean, didn't you read it? No one was ever actually influenced by Nirvana. Everyone just said they were to sound cool.

The ability of getting people to pay attention is what makes them as successful as they are. Really hard to understand how they do it though.
