And then Pearl Jam gets no credit.

They lifted two lines off the original, even modified them slightly (McCartney's original says "jumping" not "chasing"), and put them in a completely different melodic (and lyrical) context. If a substantial portion of the lyrics or music were the same, maybe, but as it stands it doesn't fit what I would call a "rip-off". This kind of thing is/was commonplace in pop music and even The Great Beatles engaged in it. Also the TLC song is better.

I listened to the whole thing, it is a geriatric snooze (my opinion, irrelevant to whether the TLC song is a "ripoff" or not). He doesn't sing "chasing waterfalls" at any point, but even if he did, to categorize it as a ripoff based on that is pretty laughable. One can't lay claim to a metaphor because one used it first. I'm no copyright expert but my feeling is if Paul had decided to pursue litigation, he'd have been laughed out of court

We are calmly discussing how they blatantly lifted his lyrics and didn't give him any credit.

Nobody said that he should have taken them to court.

Well, my issue was precisely with the use of the term "rip-off", that's what I initially objected to and what the conversation seemed to be about. Regardless, it's obvious that Macca isn't entitled to a songwriting credit for the use of two lines (each of which was modified from his original version). Acting like I'm personally upset is a classic move, but I'm just as calm as you are. Probably calmer since I'm not calling you names

for those who have yet to hear, the original demos Paul did with Elvis Costello for what later became (a very different) Flowers in the Dirt are some of the best music he created/performed post Beatles.

they were finally released in 2017 as part of the reissue for FITD.

I really like those demos, the version of "The Lovers That Never Were" on there is much better than either the Paul or EC solo versions. Paul sounds like he's about to lose his mind

That's one that I haven't gotten yet. I have all of them up to "McCartney II", which is my favorite.

The "Ram" deluxe is a really nice visual package and has an exclusive mono mix made for radio airplay. I was so stoked when it came out.
