Nick Oliveri wrote:A good friend of mine said it best, "It's hard to imagine a world without Lemmy". I looked up to Lemmy. When I was a kid, I started playing bass and doing Speed because I saw Motörhead with the Cro-Mags in 1986 at Orange pavilion in San Berdoo. Lemmy and Motörhead have changed my life and I am grateful. I am on a layover to Seattle to play a Death acoustic gig with Blag from Dwarves. It is at the Crocodile and I need to let it out. For me, Lemmy will live forever. I'm really down and blue. I once got to open up for motorhead eight shows in Germany it was in 2005 with my been Mondo generator. When I was a kid there was a commercial with the football player name mean Joe Greene, in the commercial he had just lost a game in some kid came walking up with a soda pop, and give it to the football player, he said get out here kid , and the kid left very sad and crying until he opened up the soda pop and took a big drink of it, he then said hey kid, and through him his football jersey. You can imagine the joy the kid had to have his favorite football players jersey. Well , my Lemmy story is quite similar. We did the shows in Germany with them and I notice at the end of each night , (of their 30th anniversary tour) they still would huddle around and shake hands and congratulate a good show! Well long story longer, I knew he liked to do speed and I did too , so , I brought him some. he said, I'll buy it off you. I said, I'm not a dealer, you have already paid for this with your music! In fact, this is the case IOU a lot more. He says well I'll make it up to you. I said , you already did.
Then Phil Campbell says: how about he comes up and plays second bass and sings "overkill" tonight! Lemmy says, all right! So to get to the end of the story after that gig, Lemmy includes my band Mondo generator in their congratulations and handshake at the end of the gig!! And when you got to me at the end he shook my hand and said you're good Bass Player! Makes me sad and glad to think about it. When I said thank you for having us on the tour , and sharing his stage with me and my band, And when I went to walk away, he said, "Hey" and put his hand up for the "save" hand shake! He winked his eye and I laughed and told him, "you're the best". That's my Lemmy story. He put up his hand like you would to one of your best bros for the "save", just like mean Joe Greene through that kid his jersey!!!
RIP Lemmy
I will keep your jersey forever.

While playing a song called "better living through chemistry", I look over to the side of the stage and there stands my hero , Lemmy! My hand slips off the strings just long enough to make a noticible mistake. Ha ha ! We didnt make mistakes. Somehow we partied our balls off and still played great (even better, completely lit up!). Lemmy smiled and it let me know , He heard that! Ha ha! Classic! I didn't drop a bad note for the rest of my time with qotsa. Thanks again Lemmy. Again making me a better bass player

Ha, I saw that one in the paper. Scoffed at the headline until I realised that was the name of one of their songs.

This was probably the worst obituary I've read so far.
It's so cool to do drugs and play Rock 'N Roll. Kids, do drugs.

Man, rock musicians are the worst.
So Lemmy did a few good albums, tour a lot, drank a lot...and these guys, fuckin dave grohl and Nick Olivieri are talking about him like he was a ¨true hero¨...¨he is drinking in heaven¨....Nope, he is dead.

I thought Naked Raygun were his musical heroes? Ah, never mind.

Is it possible to have more than one musical hero?

c'mon man, you don't think he is even slightly embellishing his love and idolatry for Lemmy?
If he did idolize him so much, and he was so greatly influenced by him, why do the Foo Fighters suck so bad now?

Embellishing? Probably.
As for FF, give him a break. The guy was also in Nirvana and Them Crooked Vultures. Even fucking Bowie had a bad day here and there.

If you're asked to deliver a eulogy at a man's funeral are you going to say that he was only kinda your hero?

I've never really listened to Motorhead before, though through light research I've come to find out I've heard their music before (ie: wrestler intro's).
I can completely respect the fact that many of my favorite musicians point to Motorhead as one of their favorites. That's cool.
But I just listened to some Motorhead myself, and I'm just going to say it: Not a fan. Cheesy. Don't get what the big deal is.
Go ahead, start throwing shit at me.
