I noticed that your first version of the merge left it out. This is much better.

I'm halfway through episode 9. What a sad story :(

I know it's probably a bit one-sided, but I don't believe Dassey or Avery had a damn thing to do with it. Avery embarassed the department when he was released the first time, and they had it in for him ever since.

The incompetence bias and corruption in this case is basically par for the course with any small town law enforcement jurisdiction throughout the country.

Stevens attorneys were the only people involved during whole thing that didnt disgust me. They are right in the type of people that work these jobs are horrifyingly flawed people and god help you if you end up in the middle of a trial with anything important on the line.

You can doubt their convictions to the point you think they should be free men but there is no solid proof that says they weren't involved either.

Dont be like the sketchy juror who had the family emergency bro.

Can we talk about that though? In a case where there were so many inconsistencies, unbelievable coincidences, and flat-out lies, the fact that a juror excused himself for an "emergency" and then became an advocate for the defendant may be one of the oddest ones that they didn't really make a big deal out of. The fuck was up with that?

It had to have been something legit for the judge to let him walk and open the door for a mistrial though. Strange they didnt just ask the dude what was going on since he seemed more than willing to answer questions for the film makers.

Yeah, I'm sure it was a legit issue. But what happened in that courtroom or that jury room to that guy, though? At the very least, it makes you wonder if they ever would've reached a verdict with him in there.

"How can I? I'm really stupid, mom; I can't help it" from the cousin Brendan kinda broke my heart a little bit.
