I bought Sox tix from a black guy right in front of a cop named Sheamus O'Malley. He looked over and said, "don't do that in front of me. Tickets were plentiful around the venue tonight, even 10c spares. It would not be an issue

Yeah, I think people felt like this show was a lot more "exclusive" than it was. I had a buddy who was trying to unload a ticket and he ended up selling it for $40.
