who are your five favorite indie pop bands from the early 2000s?
1. The Shins
2. Death Cab for Cutie
3. The Shins
4. The Shins
5. The Shins
Ugh I hate Death Cab

Oh Inverted World and Wincing the Night Away are both almost flawless records. And Chutes is wonderful in its flaws.

"Something About Airplanes" and "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes" are killer. "The Photo Album" and "Transatlanticism" are good. The rest are pretty shitty.

Basically this, except I'd probably rate them:

Transatlanticism
We Have the Facts
Photo Album
Plans
Something About Airplanes

In don't know a single song. Except that one in Garden State when he gives the headphones to Natalie Portman in the supercute scene. I really don't remember how that one goes though.

I saw them open for Iron & Wine once. They weren't half bad.

Put on Chutes too Narrow the other day and made a mental note to come here and post that it still holds up.

I’ve always thought that their lyrics and arrangements were deceptively complex when you look past the preciousness of it all.

One of my favorite bands of the past decade. Their albums usually get better with time, like Pearl Jam.

I feel like I've posted this before, but anyway

My friend Nick recorded this Shins cover with his friends. He's the guy with the funny hair, playing the banjo and singing at the start. It's good!
