I too thought I was too cool for Pearl Jam at that time.
"I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now" etc.
My PJ fandom picked up in April 1998. April guys
With the Binaural tour not visiting Australia I had to wait 5 years to finally see my first PJ show on the Riot Act tour.
I missed out on tickets to the first Melbourne show in 2003 but went to the 2nd and 3rd. By 2006 I was more cluey about getting tickets and went to all 3.
After devouring many a 2000 boot I was a bit disappointed with how lacking in energy the band was on that first leg of the 2003 tour. The shows from 2006 were much more enjoyable
Ive been pretty spot on with all the concerts ive been able to get to. Milwaukee 95 was the very first time I could/knew to see pearl jam. Its kind of all been embarrassingly addictive since.
Burlington, VT 1991. I had no interest in this band yet, but my roommate invited me. I passed.
Randall's Island 1996. I was living on the UES at the time and knew about the concert which was basically a stones throw away. I, for reasons still unknown, made no attempt to see either of these shows.
of the '09 philly run, i only got tix to the halloween show, and only because the lady was able to score them. i remember looking at the set from the 30th that same evening and saying 'aw, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck'. at the time there were nine songs i hadn't heard live yet (and as of today there's still three). i believe people when they say that was the show to be at in that run. i enjoyed the halloween set and experience, that was kind of a different beast, but i do wish i made more of an effort to get in to that show.

tragabigzanda wrote:We volunteered together at the Rock N Roll Camp for Girls for a couple summers (the founder is a close friend of mine); Janet Weiss lived directly across the street from me at the time (when SK and Quasi were still practicing in her basement!); and I had mutual friends with Carrie's then-girlfriend. There was a couple years when I saw them multiple times a week, but we were never close. They were incredibly popular in the Portland scene, and I was a younger guy -- I didn't mean anything to them.
Haven't talked to any of them since 2005. But Corin and her husband always struck me as very kind and personable; the other two did not.
I've had a couple really good & a couple really bad interactions with Janet over the years. Once she stayed late to help me sweep up the space I managed after they shot a Portlandia scene there. Once I tried to be cool to her at the merch stand of a Malkmus show & she called me a fucking loser.
Anyway, I missed a chance to go to the Easy Street show in 2005. 3 of my friends were there. All I had to do was make the drive up from Portland that afternoon..
