Ya can't go wrong here, you guys. I don't remember what I voted for, but I know it was right.
It should probably be titled Yawn.ABNorman wrote:But... but... don't it make you smile?PHATJ wrote:I don't get it. It was old almost immediately for me. I never seek this song out. It never just pops into my head like "I should listen to Smile, that sounds good". When it randomly comes on it doesn't peak my interest. It is just kind of there. I don't find anything about it offensive, but I find nothing about it compelling either.evenslow wrote:As simple as it is, Smile just never gets old.

simple lyrics with a few nice left turns (don't it make you smile when the sun don't shine)PHATJ wrote:I don't get it. It was old almost immediately for me. I never seek this song out. I understand what you're getting at, it just doesn't/hasn't clicked for me. Maybe it will, but it's been 20 years already.evenslow wrote:simple lyrics with a few nice left turns (don't it make you smile when the sun don't shine)PHATJ wrote:I don't get it. great neil young groove
rousing chorus
they don't try too hard, just stay in the pocket
jagged and effortless
and oh yeah ed sings the shit out of this thing
keep trying you'll get it one day
That being said, I did come around on Parachutes. After being bored by it forever, something clicked, and I really like it now. So I suppose it's totally possible.PHATJ wrote:I understand what you're getting at, it just doesn't/hasn't clicked for me. Some stuff, but I haven't spent a lot of time with NY specific material. I don't own many NY albums (just Mirror Ball & Harvest Moon, which I can't even remember when I listened to either of them). I've never felt a real gravitational pull towards Neil. I tend more towards stuff like The National, Beck, STP, Pink Floyd...evenslow wrote:do you like neil young?PHATJ wrote:That being said, I did come around on Parachutes. I guess I would try Everybody Knows This is Nowhere. Then put on Smile. Watch it all fall into place as you ascend to realms of consciousness not yet touched by man.
You're welcome!
Cant Keep is the right choice. Vote for Cant Keep.dimejinky99 wrote:Smile for overall undefinable simplicity leading to awesomeness but can't keep for great lyrics and being a weird left turn in the canon..
