That's a terrible saying. You should change that.durdencommatyler wrote:I dig both of these songs. A lot. But as I've said before: when in doubt, vote Riot Act.

Well said, though I may say Smile underlines Neil's influence more. Normally I would vote of Off He Goes, it's a beautiful song, but I've kinda been in a RA mood, and a lot of songs from that album have benefited as a result in this here tournament.digster wrote:Off He Goes is a truly gorgeous song sonically, and it's a vibe they can rarely capture live. It's one of the few songs on No Code that I think truly underlines Neil Young's influence on the record (an influence that I think, in terms of the songwriting, was somewhat overstated). I like Help Help, but I'm going with No Code this time.
I agree those are the two songs most obviously influenced by Neil Young. But Around the Bend sounds like something that could have been on Harvest Moon; and Hail, Hail and Red Mosquito share some elements with Ragged Glory and Rust Never Sleeps.darth_vedder wrote:Well said, though I may say Smile underlines Neil's influence more. Yeah, No Code still has elements of Mirror Ball, and is definitely the most NY sounding PJ album.tragabigzanda wrote:I agree those are the two songs most obviously influenced by Neil Young. Explains why Stip hates it so much.darth_vedder wrote:Yeah, No Code still has elements of Mirror Ball, and is definitely the most NY sounding PJ album.tragabigzanda wrote:I agree those are the two songs most obviously influenced by Neil Young. that's how i feel about a lot of the traditional favorites - ledbetter, hti, dissident, release, nothingman - those songs never did much for me.stip wrote:i just think its hugely overrated
I would agree until proven otherwise.stip wrote:just on RM. my outlier opinions on RM are, i would think, mostly mainstream outside it
