Sad for me, but both are top notch.

Is it just me or has SOH gained a lot in popularity on this board in recent time? I don't recall it doing very well in MM tournaments past.
Well, I know that's true for me. But I've always loved Sleight of Hand.stip wrote:Binaural in general has increased its stature in recent years round these here partsPHATJ wrote:Team Sleight of Hand forever!

Binaural used to be my least favorite PJ album. But that had nothing to do with Sleight of Hand. That song has always been, since first listen, a remarkable song, and a true fulfilling listening experience. It has aged perfectly, too. When all is said and done, SoH might end up as my favorite PJ song of all time. If it continues to age as well as it has so far.
But, again, I've loved it from first listen. It's just a brilliant song.
It took a long time. But it finally clicked. I don't think it'll ever be my favorite. This band, despite our stupid bitching and complaining, has released some outstanding music over the years. Really they've crafted some of the absolute best rock songs I've ever heard. But... yeah... I don't regret the journey. I'm just happy that I've finally arrived and can appreciate how brilliant the album really is.Strat wrote:You've come such a long way, friend.durdencommatyler wrote:Exactly.PHATJ wrote:Well, I know that's true for me. Binaural used to be near the bottom for me too. Now it's my #2 behind only Vitalogy. But, like you said, SoH has been brilliant from day one for me. It was my second favorite PJ song immediately. And the only reason I favored Release was sentimental. After years of holding the sentiment in high esteem I finally just admitted that Sleight of Hand is really (IMO) by far the bast PJ song ever written. It soars, but it is dark and murky. It takes the listener into unfamiliar territory (at least for PJ) with exactness, but it feels like it could all fall apart at any second. It is absolutely riveting. The band sounds better on this recording than anywhere else in the entire catalogue, and Ed's vocals are deeply haunting and effective. It is Pearl Jam's masterpiece. Misunderstood by the many, deeply appreciated and loved by the few. I'm so glad RM is finally getting it.durdencommatyler wrote:Exactly.PHATJ wrote:Well, I know that's true for me. I feel very similarly now about NAIS as I always have about SoH, it just took me a lot longer to truly love NAIS. But I do love it now more than ever.LetMeSleep wrote:Nicely put, Phatty.
Of course I substituted SoH for NAIS and agreed with every single word.
