It's close, I agree.
So, I actually talked a bit about my thoughts on Gardening at Night in the Cuyahoga thread, but it's one of the songs I immediately think of when I think about R.E.M. It's mysterious without putting on airs or a front; when you read about the 'Southern' aspect of the band, which may at times have been overrated or at least misunderstood, you can hear it in this kind of song; it's just coming from somewhere else.
It sounds corny, but I remember seeing the band at their hall of fame induction ceremony and watching them perform this song, and it was really moving. It's a heartfelt but individualistic statement of a song.

It seems like a pick that I would be pissed at your for taking, so maybe my love for the song was hidden behind the anger.
