I guess the album is a bit longer than it should be, my favs so far:
Welcome to My World, Broken, Soft Touch and Soothe My Soul
Dave's voice still absurd. One of my favs vocalists ever, if not the #1.

First couple times through and I'm not thrilled with Delta Machine. Gahan sounds great, but a bunch of songs just sound uninspired. The lead single (Heaven) and the Gahan-penned songs are probably my favorites. The Child Inside is horrendous. I don't think Gore should sing anymore.
Still, Delta Machine is certainly not an embarrassment. Not a lot of bands are making music this good 33 years in.

I absolutely love this album. Everything except Child inside which is crap.
My favourites are Angel, Secret to the End, Slow, Soothe My Soul
So far I like it much better than Sounds of the Universe

I used to always enjoy the Gore-sung songs, but on the last 3 or 4 albums I have hated them. They always seemed to make a nice interlude before, but now they just seem super cheesy.

Just bought tickets for the October 8 PHX show. Good seats for $50 a pop. Unfortunately, it's at my least favorite venue in AZ. Contemplated seeing them in San Diego, but couldn't justify the cost.

Good, no great music but they always take me back to a low point in my life. Always.

I gave "Delta Machine" a couple more listens yesterday and I'm still not in love with it. I'd put it right with "Sounds of the Universe." "Playing the Angel" was such a surprisingly stellar album that it kinda rekindled my love for DM, but the last 2 have been pretty sub-par.

The show was good, but not great. The best thing about DM is Gahan's voice and Gore ended up singing on 5 tracks. Not sure why that happened, because Gahan sounded amazing when he was singing. Condemnation lost all of its power with Gore at the mic. I did enjoy the reworkings of some of their classic songs. The super bluesy intro to Personal Jesus was particularly great. Unfortunately, they played The Child Inside, which is a horrendous song.
They need to give up the leather vests and black fingernail polish and I could do without some the on-stage antics from Gahan.

I would have loved to see DM in the 80s. Since I've never seen them live I'd go now too, if they would come to Seattle, although I'd probably have to go alone. Glad you got a good show for the most part.

Been enjoying this lately. It's the only album I have. May need to start delving a bit deeper.
