Early 90s - Ferocious, stellar jams with interesting cover noodles, tension, energy. 9.5/10

Now - Crap intro, rushes into supposed manic jam which is akin to HB's idea of foreplay. 6/10

Two versions I love of "Porch" are Salt Lake City '95 (the one JWB remastered) and Lubbock '00. As far as I'm concerned the 2000 performances of this are pretty much the gold standard for PJ as an improvisational band.

Ah yes, the Bag o' Dicks remaster.

It's a shame ridleybradout couldn't have incorporated that into the bootleg art somehow.

Maybe for SRS20.

God damn Zurich '92 Porch is a furious monster. I love it so much.

This song was meant to be played live. Someone mentioned that th intro was over quickly and then it was just an excuse to get to the solo…that's what it is all about - plus the energy.

Look at how this song has evolved - from the structured, restrained studio version to all out energy in early live versions. To me this evolved into the culmination of all the stress/pressure etc of 93/94 blistering manic jams that concluded the set lists of the time where, once the song was over, the band could pretty much be said to have left it all on stage.

I feel that a 92-95 setlist is empty without this song.

98 versions are comparable but not as good minus the drummer…2000 versions sometimes passable.

Return to form in Eddie's solo shows.

This was taken after Eddie Vedder's solo in Austin, TX on 11/11/12. I waited after the show and he talked to all of the fans. A fan ahead of me recorded this conversation with his iPhone in his pocket. Eddie and I did not know our conversation was being recorded. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only time he ever told the story of Porch. After a little research, the Iggy Pop show that is referring to was on 12/10/90 and Porch was first played live on 12/22/90. I originally upload this video in 2012 but accidentally deleted it from youtube.
