Just listened to Star Wars again, man I love it. Is it true they used Muswell Hillbillies as a blueprint?

And I'm ordering Schmilco ASAP. Love what they've been doing.
Never listened to Muswell Hillbillies before. Just listened to a couple samples, sounds right up my alley. I'll spin it sometime this week. Thanks!
Oh my God, you're welcome.

Muswell Hillbillies is one of the best albums ever.

I started a listening quest of Wilco's discography in order before listening to Schmilco, so I can relearn the progression. I forgot how much I enjoyed Being There. Reminds me of getting drunk on my buddy's porch on summer nights in college.

My First Wilco(TM) was Outtasite (Outta Mind). I heard the song on a CMJ New Music Monthly CD. I was a DJ on my college radio station so I played it and got lots of calls. I didn't even notice Summerteeth coming out - I was in the military by then - but got back into the band for YHF. That's such a great album. I fell off again for Ghost but Sky Blue Sky is my other favorite Wilco album.

I seem to run them like Trek movies...but then I've never listened to The Whole Love. Eh.

As an aside, I found a lot of great bands thanks to those CMJ CDs.

Could probably make one great Wilco record out of Sukierae, Star Wars and Schmilco. They all contain several songs that remind me of why I love Wilco but have way to many merely okay songs.

ditto, even though i haven't spent as much time with it as i should

listened to schmilco in the background and only a few tracks jumped out to me...will definitely need to devote more attention to it though

I just listened to it for the first time. I pretty much agree with your assessment Trag. Id much rather hear this than them going for it and failing like they did with The Whole Love. Also found it interesting Nels pretty much doesn't play on the record.

I just read an interview with him about the record and he mentioned how he felt he needed to learn how to create something for these songs that was different for him. I dont think he actually figured it out.

I enjoyed the whole love better than this. Tweedy just sounds bored and there isn't really a melody in there that dragged me in to dig deep into the lyrics.

Not giving up on it but....
