I like Mother Love Bone, but I don't $60 boxed set like them.

I tried listening to Apple a year or so ago, but got bored real quick with it and have never felt the desire to try and re-visit it.

I think the extent of my listening to Mother Love Bone will be on the Singles soundtrack. I heard Stardog Champion a few times in the 90s, but I didn't really care for it.

Why the 2000 boot re-release? It would make much more sense to offer a tour or leg of a tour that's not been released.

Probably because it's super easy to just burn these on demand and sell them.

guess this boosts the odds of there being MLB songs performed at the TOTD shows
on the bright side, Cornell can probably sing them better than Ed
on the not bright side, MLB songs; and Matt Cameron on drums for MLB songs....
he should just stick to Kyle Petty Son of Richard PLEASE MATT STOP DOING THIS TO YOURSELF.
ahem.

They're gonna reform the band and call it Grandmother Love Bone

Stardog Champion featuring Chris Cornell and Pearl Jam (Live from Alpine Valley)
Add this to the PJ20 tracks on TOTD reissue and we now know the real reason these boots were never released...

Lubricated Muscle Drive = Muscle Child (demo)
The demo along with all the other demos is readily available for streaming.

I was about 15 when I discovered PJ (around Yield era). Not much later I discovered a whole musical universe surrounding the band. TotD, MLB, Green River, Brad, Mad Season, Three Fish,....
The Andy Wood story was always very very sad to me. I still think Apple is a great record. For me it's almost impossible to not see 'Ten' as Stone's direct reaction to 'Apple'.
I don't believe in remasters, since most of them are worse. But I do love extra content, and where the PJ remasters of Ten, VS and Vitalogy were lacking, this MLB boxset has everything. Most of those songs I've heard on crappy bootlegs. It will be nice to hear them in full glory. It's mostly for historical or completist sake, but those could be very good reasons to release something. A vinyl remastered boxset is a moneygrab. But releasing 20 unreleased tracks is not. I don't care about remasters, 24-page booklets, posters. It's 'new' music I want...
The Andy Wood documentary is a must watch for every PJ fan:
It is an interesting set. Will be very interesting to see if TOTD play some MLB songs this autumn.

ey thanks for that link Joostone!!
Im dying to watch that one....
As for the reissue, i think its cool. It seems well curated, and it offers a pretty good insight of the band. i dont get the backlash with a MLB reissue at all.

I'm not really interested in Mother Love Bone, so I can't speak to this specific reissue, but in general I think the trend of only making previously unreleased music exclusively available on expensive collector's editions which require buyers to shell for music they already own is gross. This has only gotten worse as the business has become increasingly desperate to turn profit, and Pearl Jam Inc. are right there at the fore of the charge. There are still some releases that get it right (the Wilco and Soundgarden sets from a couple years ago were right on; Dylan's Bootleg Series has historically been pretty solid, though they've dipped into cash-grab territory a couple times), but for the most part I think any cynicism surrounding products like this is well-warranted. It's lucky we got "Lost Dogs" when we did; today, the six legitimate "Binaural" B-sides would have been only available on a 5-disc-plus-detritus reissue that featured the original album, one or two "alternate mixes" of the album, a vinyl pressing of a 2000 show that's already available elsewhere, a DVD of the Rock am Ring show sourced from a YouTube rip, and a pair of wacky goggles designed to resemble the hourglass nebula.
I don't know. I just don't really like the "release every scrap" business model.
