I thought these were both pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of CM, either (although I DO like Parachutes very much), but this performance was unique and very good. Someone must REALLY have a mental block against CM to think he ruined this.

That Nothingman version really let all of Eddie's current vocal quirks shine. Unlistenable.

This was really more about the song selection and the event. I never even thought about hearing Ed sing this song before. With all the criticism of his voice on RM, I thought this one really fit his current style. To have CM, or anyone else join him really is beside the point, IMO. As much as I've resisted anything Coldplay-related for the past decade, it really had no bearing on how well this performance fit the evening's message. Read the words and reflect a bit, people!
I wonder how it feels to hate... so much.

Of all RMers, Burt, you are the one who could have made me feel the hate with an appropriately-placed name or meme, and you waste the opportunity with THAT?!
the part where Ed and Chris Martin stopped playing music and then rolled out a wheelbarrow of soiled mens underpants and began aggressively jamming them into their faces sniffing them, grunting, and slapping each other just seemed poorly rehearsed
i think some folks appreciated the effort
but the crowd was not too into it
they're all used to the soundboard from 2002 and with expectations that high it can be hard after 14 years and little practice to live up to that standard

I thought Ed sounded good here. Cool to hear the Crowded House song.

Also, to the Cat Stevens duet. I've always loved that song.

I love the image on Ed's shirt. Who's the artist? Where can I get it?
